Coalescent Technologies Broadens its Participation at the 2005 Interservice / Industry Training, Simulation, and Education Conference (I/ITSEC)

Orlando, FL. September 29, 2005 – Coalescent Technologies Corporation announces its will again broaden its participation in the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC)at the Orlando, Florida Convention Center, November 28 - December 1, 2005. In addition to the corporate booths (#2304 & #2306), Coalescent will also be represented with hardware, training software, and personnel in the Marine Corps booth and will be a participant in the Joint Virtual Training Special Event (JVTSE).

In the JVTSE, the Marine Corps will showcase how the Virtual Battlefield System (VBS1™) training system from Coalescent and Bohemia Interactive Studio is being used at the I and II Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) simulation centers to provide virtual combat convoy training to Marines.

VBS1™ is a low-cost, high fidelity, training system that was initially designed for and with technical assistance from the Marine Corps Training & Education Command and Fleet Marines. Subsequently, VBS1™ has gained widespread acceptance throughout the world as a premier synthetic training system. It is widely used by the U.S. Army National Guard, the Australian Defense Force, the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Secret Service, in Canada, Europe, and elsewhere.

In the last few months, the Marine Corps has upgraded all their VBS1™ systems and nearly doubled the number of fielded systems deployed in the simulation centers, schools, and with deployed units. VBS1™ is the first and most robust of the Marine Corps family of Tactical Decision Simulations (TDSs) that are used throughout the Corps to augment live training in tactics, convoy operations, and combined arms employment.

VBS1™ is a fully interactive 3D synthetic training application that has been specifically tailored to address escalating operational commitments. It is a modular, scenario driven, and deployable; with photo-realistic terrain, user-definable mission scenarios, inherent military doctrine, client-specific symbology, and variable environmental conditions. Built on the Bohemia Interactive Studio’s game engine, Real Virtuality™, VBS1™ is designed and customizable to meet military, law enforcement, homeland security, and first responder training requirements. Little, to no, additional training or factory support is needed after fielding, as “out-of-the-box, VBS1™ contains a Mission Editor that allows trainees and instructors to easily create and/or modify missions to meet applicable training objectives. Deployed on laptops, desktops or through the Internet, VBS1™ delivers the most cost-effective solution for worldwide interactive training.

In addition to its military training applications, Coalescent will showcase the new Virtual Incident Management System (VIMS™) at its booth. VIMS™ is built on the same high performance and proven commercial gaming engine used for VBS1™ and is completely compatible with VBS1™. VIMS™ is specifically targeted for the training of first responder personnel and the coordinated training of first responders and National Guard or other military personnel.
